In a dealer meeting made by Metro PCS, Metro finally introduced the upcoming LG Optimus M that is expected to hit the market by the end of this month. The SCH-r900 will launch on MetroPCS later this summer. Samsung also noted that MetroPCS has selected Samsung to provide the networking infrastructure needed to launch its LTE network in Las Vegas during the second half of this year. MetroPCS previously announced Ericsson as a supplier for LTE networking equipment, but Samsung will be the exclusive provider for LTE infrastructure in the Las Vegas market. MetroPCS does not maintain its own EV-DO network, and the regional carrier will be leap-frogging traditional 3G technology to move directly to the next generation LTE technology. Metro PCS is lunching the new ZTE-C E520, as it is called in the online manual filed with the FCC,is a fairly simple candy bar device with a numeric keypad. FCC documentation lists tri-band CDMA support, which fits squarely with MetroPCS. The user manual also gives support for MetroWeb and other MetroPCS services, which indicates this phone will be headed to the regional carrier lineup. Lunch date is not certain.
